Providing
ministry to children at MLBC has been the joy of
Karen Cavin, our Minister of Childhood Education since January, 1994. After
graduation from college and attending graduate school, Karen taught public
school seven years in the area of speech pathology, deaf education and
kindergarten. Beginning in 1983 God began to work in her heart and call
her into full-time ministry in the church. Since that time, she has served
on staff of four churches with responsibilities such as supervising preschool
and children's education, weekday preschool, private kindergarten, mother's
day out, and summer programs. At Mimosa Lane Karen administers all the
preschool and children's ministries, family ministries, and supervises
the Minister to Preschool. Outside the church, she serves as the Chairperson
of the Dallas Baptist Association preteen camp committee, associational
and state Bible drill conductor, has lead numerous conferences both here
and internationally, and is trained in conflict resolution and mediation
training in accordance with Texas Medication Roundtable standards.
Karen is married to Bob
Cavin who serves as Executive Pastor on the staff at Mimosa Lane. They
have two children and wonderful son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Christi,
their daughter, is married to Chad Morgan and they have one daughter,
Carli and twin sons, Carter and Colton. Christi is an Educational Diagnostician
with the Garland Independent School District. Chad works in roofing
in the commercial building industry. Kyle, their son is married to
Kelley and they live in Rockwall, Texas. Kyle is the
Assistant Director of Ambulatory Care at Scottish Rite Hospital and
Kelley teaches 2nd grade for the Rockwall Independent School District. They
have one son, Kye. Karen's favorite things to do are spending time
with her family (especially her grandchildren), reading and traveling.
