Carrie
McDonnall's story is a compelling and inspiring one. She and
her husband David served together as missionaries in Iraq. In
2004, while serving the Lord there, the couple, along with three
coworkers, was ambushed in the northern city of Mosul. The
attackers killed her three friends instantly. David and Carrie
were able to get to medical help where David would eventually
succumb to his injuries. Due to the trauma that her body endured
in the attack, Carrie would not find out about her husband's
death until many days later. Once awakened from her coma, Carrie
began a journey she never dreamed she would have to endure.
Carrie's
testimony expands beyond the events of that day and beyond the
boundaries of missions. Her testimony speaks loudly into the
heart of the Body of Christ reminding its members to live out
our faith intentionally, allowing it to reach into every aspect
of our lives. Carrie's challenge through the Holy Spirit reaches
to the hurting, the suffering, the grieving, the complacent, the
hopeful, the weary, the lost, and the saved.
The Lord's
work in Carrie's life reminds us that His Sovereignty reaches
into each of our lives, and it is His Love and Faithfulness that
causes us to carry on in the work He has extended to those who
are called children of God.
In her book
Facing Terror, Carrie tells the story that began long before the
events of March 15, 2004. In the forward of Facing Terror, Beth
Moore writes: She described the events that you will read about
as she unfolds her story in the pages of this book. Like me, you
will probably shake your head and wonder how in the world anyone
could live to tell it… I can only hope that I am standing
close by in heaven when God reveals His glory in Carrie
McDonnall and others like her. What more could they have offered
Him? "They did not love their lives so much as to shrink
from death" (Revelation 12:11 NIV) Great is their reward.
Carrie's
ministry continues to cross the boundaries of cultures and ages
as the Lord leads her ministry across states and countries, into
churches, quiet retreats, chapel services, mission events,
prayer meetings, businesses, and many other places. She
currently lives in Texas and is the founder of Carry On
Ministries.
